With the impending new year marking roughly four years since my vegan journey began, I recently started reflecting back to what my mindset on veganism had been like in those beginning stages. I personally grew up in a family of hunters and the concept of not eating any animal products wasn’t a thing I’d even heard of until adulthood. It wasn’t until I met my boyfriend that I’d even considered giving veganism a try. And although I’m glad I did, I’ll be the first to admit that there were several aspects of living an easy, cruelty-free lifestyle that I had to learn along the way. Below is my list of nine of those things that I wish I knew before going vegan. If you’ve got any to add, leave them in the comments below!
Eating a vegan diet might be great for our health (and the difference between life and death for our furry friends), but if you aren't careful, it can also incredibly expensive. Consistently eating fresh fruits, veggies, and meat substitutes, especially, can mean shelling out a ton of money on food every month. Don’t let that deter you, though. There are several ways to eat yummy vegan food on a budget. Here’s how.
There are so many things to love about the winter season – from amazing food to beautiful snowfalls to spending time with family and friends. So, if you’re looking to perfect your pout before that kiss under the mistletoe, check out these tips for breaking the chapped lips curse.
Earlier this year, I wrote an article about keeping small animals safe in hot weather. With the winter months now upon us, I figured it was as good of a time as any for a counter-article on what to do when things get chilly. As an avid guinea pig lover myself, I’ve always considered it extremely important that the owners of piggies and other pocket pets understand what to do to ensure their comfort in extreme weather. After all, many of us go to great lengths to keep our cats and dogs safe with weather changes – we can’t forget about the little guys too! So if you or someone you know is a fan of all things small and furry, keep reading for some tips on keeping guinea pigs, rabbits, and hamsters nice and cozy in the cold.
It’s no secret that too much screen time is a poor habit on its own. In fact, one survey found that over 80% of people worldwide claimed that they couldn’t bare to go without their phones for a single day! However, there really is an app for everything these days – and that includes promoting healthier habits. When used appropriately and in moderation, these awesome (and free!) apps can help you stay on top of your health and personal goals.
